Brent Symonette…”The Gestapo In The Bahamas.”

02012018_BrentSymonette6JPG_t670

The days of Nazi Germany and the “Gestapo” I believed was over, until uncovering what Brent Symonette and his puppet Administration has done to the people in The Bahamas .

A rehearsal of his clandestine and abusive traits began a long time ago when his father Sir. Roland Theodore Symonette stifled the black settlers here in The Bahamas; refusing them equality and justice. As during his father’s tenor as Premier of The Bahamas denying democracy,  Brent  Symonette is now doing once more in The Bahamas with a speechless cabinet. There is absolutely no one in his Administration that can contest or deny him his ideologies, refute his assertions, or compel him to reveal and disclose his many contracts with Government or his actual fortune.

Mr. Symonette’s unbridled actions inside and outside government leaves much to be desired. With a majority rule in the House Assembly under the Free National Movement, Mr. Symonette’s juggernaut presence has silence everyone of his cabinet members inclusive of the Prime Minister of The Bahamas. This is the consensus of the educated masses; and that The Prime Minister, Mr. Hubert Minnis  sits inert while allowing democracy to be diminish. Diminished by the passing of legislation, entering of contracts where clear conflicts of interest exist, and allowing Mr. Symonette to decide contracts entirely on his own volition.

Even though his Father under the United Bahamian Party(UBP) made his fortune on the backs of indentured Bahamian freed slaves, the greed for power continues with his nature and select times pretending to care at all for the well being of The Bahamian Nation. Rather, he has used his wits and power to further his selfish ambitions.

Brent Symonette eased his way into politics in 1987; and as a perk five years later, by then Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham, was appointed Minister of Tourism in 1992 in the first FNM Administration. Mr. Symonette also held the position as Attorney General during the same year for a short period. He then retired from politics also that same year stating he wanted to be more active in his businesses. Take the money and RUN!!!

In years later, 1997, he emerged once more as a forerunner but did not get the nod from his party, rather William Allen. He would still end up with a post at Airport Authority and Head of the Hotel Corporation. Mr. Symonette’s connections and influence obviously was the catalysis behind obtaining that position.

During this tenor, he awarded a contract to his family to do runway repairs without consent of his board members. This was brought before the House of Assembly by Bradley Roberts in 2001. Mr. Symonette’s ‘lame duck’ excuse was that there wasn’t enough board members on the Island to make the decision and it was exigent. That matter was swept under the “Runway Pavement,”  am guessing. However, with elections fast approaching nothing could be left to chance therefore Mr. Symonette tendered his resignation on request of the then Prime Minister Mr. Hubert Ingraham immediately. Take the money and Run!!!

Despite the disgraceful scandal, Mr. Symonette was still able to capture the Montague seat in 2002, of course by his influence and overwhelming presence.

Again, in 2012, January 12, Press release: Brent Symonette to step down from front line politics after advise from wife.

However, it came after huge controversy over the contracts awarded to Hot Mix a “Road Paving Company owned by his family.”

Among other things were, he mishandle the affairs at Immigration and Naturalization Services. He controlled the issuing of passports, work permits, signed off on citizenship, Visas and issued Identity cards to thousands of foreigners. It is said to have greatly assisted the FNM party in the last General Election with foreigners that were Naturalized as Bahamians who was granted ability to vote….., and I quote.

After his reaping of those Departments he resigned once more. Take the money and RUN!!!

In a statement, MP Brent Symonette said yesterday his decision to step down as a substantive Cabinet minister had “absolutely” nothing to do with recent controversy over a contract awarded to a company tied to his family. Instead, the former financial services, trade and industry and immigration minister said the move was up for discussion between him and Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis for the past six months.

The situation has been shrouded in speculation as it came just two weeks after it was revealed that Bahamas Hot Mix, a company with ties to his family, was awarded a contract to upgrade runways at Lynden Pindling International Airport. Take the money and RUN!!!

However, yesterday, Mr Symonette gave insight into what led to the decision.

I told the prime minister I would not go beyond my 65th birthday and we decided it would be better to do either within the fiscal year or before the new one began, which started today (yesterday),” Mr Symonette said in an interview with The Tribune.

“So it would have been better to do it at the beginning of the fiscal year rather than wait until December when my birthday is and have a Cabinet minister leave then. I vowed that I wouldn’t be a Cabinet minister a day past my 65th birthday.”

Asked pointedly whether the resignation had anything to do with controversy over contracts, he said: “Absolutely not.”

On Sunday the government issued a brief statement, which read: “It is notified for general information that Brent Symonette has tendered his resignation as minister of financial services, trade and industry and immigration, with effect from July 1, 2019.

Mr. Brent Symonette, leaves office once again with a contract for five years among many others , with the Bahamas Post Office, for $4.5 million dollars within the next five years(5yrs). Do he seem to actually care about any Bahamian citizen? He has abandoned his constituents continually after getting what he set out to achieve on the backs of the Bahamian tax payers. The same thing his predecessor did.

Mr. Brent  Symonette is taking the money and running once more. But, have you considered what did he leaves you and every tax payer in The Bahamas to pay!? An Eight Billion Dollars in excess ($8,000,000,000.00+) deficit in a country of roughly 411, 000 people. Which accounts for each individual to pay a minimum of Nineteen Thousand Dollars in excess ($19,000.00+) approximately in taxes to stabilize our economy.

Oh well, Brent is now relaxing in his tunnel with a bag filled with the Bahamian people monies, while our Prime Minister sits speechless, as if the actions and accusation about Mr. Symonette is fictitious.’

Brent-Minnis

The Free National Movement has been a product of a stem cell of victimization.

Under this new administration led by Hubert Minnis  and Mr. Symonette as the “Puppet Master” The Bahamas is now seeing the power of greed, dishonesty and blatant misuse of the Public’s Treasury and Trust.

The actions of this administration is one seen to be dictated by Mr. Brent Symonette and not that of our elected Prime Minister, Hon. Hubert Minnis. The “Gestapo” government of the former regime of Nazi Germany one may add is the reflection of this administration. Where there is no boundaries to what can be done, how it is done, who is to be accountable, and there is no recourse. This is not democracy where the people’s mouth has been shut, and their opinions do not matter. Where the majority cries foul and no watchman comes to investigate and disclose.

This is not the Government many expected, “it’s the people time”-rather each member under the leadership of Mr. Brent Symonette as “Puppet Master,” have laid in bed and cohort with his ‘Gestapo ” methods that have vandalized our Bahamian democracy.’ Take the money and RUN!!!

It is obvious that, ‘the golden rule is being applied among his cabinet. The man with the Gold makes the Rule.

Where have our democracy gone; why have our dreams of a Nation be crippled by one man’s ambitions above many that need support? This is a matter to contemplate as to whether we will allow a “Gestapo” regime in our capital. …It is a pity.’
